Wings of Hope 2025

From the Desk of James J. Pepe – Director of Development & Marketing 01 September 25 As the calendar flips to September, we find ourselves just days away from the 18th Wings of Hope Butterfly Release presented by St. Luke’s Cancer Center. I am personally excited for this event as it will be the first time I get to experience it. Like many things at the Cancer Support Community – Greater Lehigh Valley, this event is changing.  One of the main reasons behind the changes is that Wings of Hope has been identified as our Signature Event. This is the event that has the most impact on our community, and we have made the decision that the event day needs to match that impact. For years, Cedar Crest College has been a magnificent host to this event. However, lessons from last year indicated that we were almost at capacity. Therefore, we decided to find a new location that not only provides a great backdrop for the butterfly release but also offers the opportunity to allow for continued growth. After considering several locations, Bear Creek Mountain Resort was selected thanks to its outdoor/indoor capabilities, its large space for now and the future, and the beautiful mountain backdrop. While we understand that Bear Creek is not centrally located in the Lehigh Valley, we have worked hard to make the entire event day more engaging for those attending. By providing more family activities, vendors, and live music, we are allowing you and your family to spend an enjoyable day while keeping the key parts, the program, our Field of Butterflies curtains, an new reflection area and the butterfly release itself full of the meaning it has always had. We look forward to hosting you on Sunday, September 7 from 1-4pm at Bear Creek. We have confidence that we will have an enjoyable day. We also understand that new things can mean a few challenges on the day. We will work hard to keep them minimized and will always strive to improve the experience year after year. Thank you for trusting us with this important day of remembrance for those who have been impacted by a cancer diagnosis. We look forward to seeing you on September 7. Regards, James
